Whether we are escaping the mundanity of our restricted lives or the messiness of our social media feeds, a woman’s night time routine has become a much-needed tool to disconnect and relax. In a new series “How I Wind Down…”, we speak to lot of different women about how they prepare for a restful evening.

Alannah Walton has been a mainstay on the Australian and international modelling scene for years now (at 18, she famously walked the Victoria’s Secret runway). Now based back in Sydney, Walton has been working on projects closer to home, including singing as the face of recently-relaunched Bean Body. The alignment makes so much sense – she’s the quintessential natural Aussie beauty (and a complexion to match).

She’s also well-versed in skincare, self-care, beauty and the like, so naturally we jumped at the opportunity to ask Walton how she winds down after a long day. From essential oils to coffee scrubs, find her answers below.

GRAZIA: Can you describe your night time beauty routine?

ALANNAH: My nighttime beauty routine is simple yet effective for me. Firstly I will remove my makeup with Bioderma Micellar Water. Then, I will have a shower and wash my face with Youth To The People Superfood Cleanser. I love this product. It’s all natural and doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry. Three times a week I’ll add BEAN BODY’s Bee My Manuka Coffee Scrub into my cleanser and massage into my face, neck and shoulders. I use this for a deeper exfoliation! It’s packed full of great ingredients and leaves my skin so soft and nourished. After I have washed my face I will use Youth To The People face oil, and massage it into my skin with a jade roller. Lastly I will use Youth To The People eye cream. This product is really amazing for de-puffing the under eye and tightening!

GRAZIA: How do you wind down after a busy day?

ALANNAH: When I get home, I’ll jump straight into the shower and put some comfy clothes on. If I’m stressed out, I’ll have a really long shower and then exfoliate with BEAN BODY’s Bee My Manuka Honey Scrub. I find the ritual of exfoliating my whole body super relaxing – almost like meditation! After washing the day away, I’ll move to the kitchen. I really love cooking and find it therapeutic. This is definitely a ritual for me, even if I have had a long day.

GRAZIA: How do you decorate your space so that it feels like a sanctuary?

ALANNAH: My home is the most important thing to me! I’ve always taken pride in my space. I have quite minimal taste and use a lot of neutral colours throughout my home. I love to keep things clean, and then love using essential oils and candles to create some ambiance.

GRAZIA: What time do you go to sleep?

ALANNAH: I go to sleep quite early! I wake up around 5:30/6 a.m. at the moment, so I’m asleep around 8:30, haha!

GRAZIA: What about those nights’ where you’ve had a bad sleep. Any makeup products you’ll reach for?

ALANNAH: Yes! The Chanel pot bronzer on top of the eyelids and on the cheeks is an amazing pick-me-up and gives a really beautiful glow. A good concealer can never go astray either. I use the Nars matte pot concealer. I have always sworn by a lip and cheek tint as well. I am loving Luma Cosmetics in ‘Lady Luck’ right now. It just gives my skin some life.

GRAZIA: What’s your go-to morning outfit when you’re in a rush?

ALANNAH: I don’t plan my outfit the night before, but I probably should as I’m always rushed… My go-to look when I’m short on time is a pair of straight jeans, a great white tank, a blazer and white sneakers. You can’t go wrong.
