Afterpay Australian Fashion Week has seen a handful of first-time designers show this year, and Beare Park was by far one of the most highly anticipated. Held at Sydney’s Opera House, the debut collection was androgynous, luxurious, and subtly elegant. Each and every piece is made sustainably in Australia, and takes a capsule-like approach to dressing.

As for beauty, the brief was “healthy, sculpted and luxe”. Led by Nicole ‘Pinky’ Thompson for Nudestix (available via Sephora) the overall makeup look was tonal and rich. Pinky used the Nudestix Tinted Cover foundation as a base, and then utilised the Nudestix Cream Fix Concealer in a lighter shade to give definition and brighten the centre of the face. The hero colour products were Nudies Bloom in Sweet Peach Peony, Tiger Lily Queen as well as Nudies Matte in Bondi BaeIn the Nude and Sunkissed. The idea with the multipurpose colour sticks was to create a “moving veil of colour” across the cheeks, temples, bridge of the nose and around the eyes.

Each hue was expertly blended, as if blush, eyeshadow and contour had all melded seamlessly together. But because of the beige/brown/caramel colour palette, the end result was soft and expensive-looking; a fresh approach to the neutral makeup trend.

Hair was simple and individual across the board. Director Julianne McGuigan for Oribe worked with each model’s natural movement and texture, before adding a veil of expensive-looking shine. McGuigan prepped strands with the Oribe Mystify Restyling Spray, before massaging in the Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse into the roots. The aforementioned expensive shine was achieved using the Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil throughout the ends. Heaven.

The entire beauty aesthetic was very much in line with Beare Park’s strong new direction; contemporary, cool and classic, but with a laid-back Australian edge.
