For the next three months Sydney residents will be able to experience the creative energy of the late Virgil Abloh, artistic director for Louis Vuitton, in real life.

The French maison has revealed a pop-up store dubbed Temporary Residence: Walk in The Park that will showcase a collection of sneakers, eyewear and ready-to-wear sourced from the duration of Virgil Abloh’s stewardship of the Louis Vuitton men’s universe.

Having already appeared in Paris, New York and Shibuya the pop-up will take place in one of Sydney’s most prestigious slices of real estate for its Australian debut.

Located in the luxury quarter of Pitt Street, just across from the Tiffany & Co flagship and Hermès, the Temporary Residence: Walk in The Park is more interactive art installation than traditional retail experience, combining both Abloh’s background in architecture and his career-long passion for community building.

Of course, it will also be a chance to get your hands on some of the most coveted goods in luxury fashion – a pair of limited edition upcycled Louis Vuitton sneakers in an exclusive Sydney colourway.

With only 100 pairs made, there’s no doubt that these will be in high demand (for both sentimental value if not resale potential) and are made entirely from upcycled LV trainer material. With over 40 styles of sneakers available, the Temporary Residency features various editions of the trademark LV Trainer first introduced for Spring-Summer 2019 as well as broader retrospective of the LV trainers through the seasons.

Other exclusives include a pair of 1.1 Millionaire sunglasses in purple and a very meaningful Monogram kite that appeared in Virgil’s first and last show.

Overseeing the interaction inside will be a 7.5 metre 3D sculpture of Virgil Abloh himself.

One thing that Abloh made sure of during his tenure at Louis Vuitton was nurturing the spirit of contribution into the brand’s DNA. Sustainable production and materials as well as the development of artistic collaborations and partnerships.

The ethos of the Temporary Residence: Walk In The Park series honours this same passion. To create the sculpture of the Abloh, Louis Vuitton worked with a Byron Bay-based company with a strict tree-planting policy that offsets potential environmental impact of the business. The result of this collaboration will see 200 trees planted and nurtured to full growth.

Virgil Abloh’s legacy was always more than just brand development at Vuitton. It was prying the doors open to a new generation and new vision for the future of fashion.

He was famously quoted that everything he did, he did for the 17-year-old version of himself.
