Head-to-toe power suiting has new meaning especially when in leather. Take this Celine tailored track-inspired suit in a butter-soft lambswool. I decided to break it up for an unexpected “soft-power” look by layering an oversized men’s shirt underneath this season’s slate grey.

Voted this season’s top colour, there’s a shade to wear all together or styled apart: dove, slate, to steel. If dressing in the grey area is not in your colour chart, pair together with white, burgundy or charcoal shirting for a refreshing break. Consider casual layering with a grey woollen jumper, which is ideal for the cooler months ahead.

Red is never dead, and similar to grey there’s a huge spectrum of red hues to choose from this season. I’ve always been drawn to a bold red with orange undertones perhaps because I have olive skin. If wearing red is a tad too bold a move, road test with accessories like this shiny mini shoulder bag in patent leather by Gucci, along with platform loafers which are guaranteed to liven up any outfit.

The classic white shirt is no longer limited to workwear, yet has always been considered the ‘hardest working’ fashion staple along with perhaps white tees and tanks. But do I half-tuck, untuck, button up, or slightly unbutton it? Do I cuff or uncuff? I feel a future Stylist’s Take on how-to wear the white shirt multiple ways coming on soon. The white shirt hit the spotlight during the last Autumn/Winter runway season with major fashion players like Valentino, Dior, Loewe and Prada all doing their own hybrid version. There was a casual spin with jeans at Versace, and black tie versions of every length at Valentino. The trick is making sure your classic white shirt looks crisp and bright every time you wear it, so my advice? Invest in a steamer.

Silver jewellery has signalled a striking and shiny return; sculptured cuffs, stacked chain necklaces and pendants, chunky silver hoops and safety pins earrings reminiscent of laid-back 90s cool. I’m a fan of gold jewellery, but lately I’ve been driven to wear more silver since it works with everyday styling day or night. Wearing silver is understated, yet easy to elevate and wear with the popular cooler wardrobe tones of grey, white and metallics. (The latter are proving a dominant trend this season.)
