It’s not news that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are in a relationship – the Suits star and British Royal have been seen together regularly in the past year.
But today marks the first time Meghan has spoken publicly about dating the prince, opening up in an interview in the latest issue of Vanity Fair.
“We’re a couple. We’re in love,” the 36-year-old Canadian confirmed.
Hinting that she and Harry will live a more public life together in the future – AKA wedding bells – she continued:
“I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us.
“It’s part of what makes it so special, that it’s just ours. But we’re happy. Personally, I love a great love story,” she added.
Discussing the intense attention from the public and the paparazzi, Meghan said:
“It has its challenges, and it comes in waves—some days it can feel more challenging than others.
“And right out of the gate it was surprising the way things changed. But I still have this support system all around me, and, of course, my boyfriend’s support.”

Getting into a serious relationship with a royal family member and all that entails means theirs isn’t necessarily a normal relationship. But Markle doesn’t sound worried about what’s to come if she does marry Harry and become a Royal.
“I can tell you that at the end of the day I think it’s really simple.
“We’re two people who are really happy and in love. We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception.
“Nothing about me changed. I’m still the same person that I am, and I’ve never defined myself by my relationship.”
The news comes just a couple of days after Kensington Palace announced Prince William and Kate Middleton are expecting their third child.
Meghan and Harry are believed to have started dating in July 2016, with the relationship being confirmed for the first time in November when Harry released a statement urging paparazzi to back off and give Meghan more privacy.
