It seems Kanye West is still something of a muse for Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing, as the label’s just unveiled autumn/winter 2016 campaign reveals.
West stars alongside model Joan Smalls in a dramatic black and white image which was photographed by Steven Klein. Shared on Instagram on Tuesday, it shows the rapper falling down while an impossibly elongated Smalls reaches towards him.
It’s unclear what the Famous rapper’s vulnerable depiction might mean. Could it signify that he fears falling victim to overexposure or losing control of his own image? Or the inevitable decline of his career, or the fame and influence currently enjoyed by he and his family? Or, maybe it’s just because it looks cool?
Kanye appears to be wearing a customised version of the jacket he wore to this year’s Met Gala with ripped jeans, which have become his signature look.
It’s not the first time Kanye has been the face of the French fashion house. In 2014, he and Kim Kardashian fronted the brand’s menswear range. The couple are known to be close with Rousteing, so it’s not a huge surprise to see Kanye and the designer collaborating again.
