Two knobbly walnuts appeared in a curious invitation to the Dior Spring/Summer 2027 show, and perhaps hint at what Jonathan Anderson has in store for his latest collection.
The walnuts are wénwán, a Chinese tradition in which pairs of nuts are rolled in the hand until their shells develop a smooth, amber-toned patina. Associated with longevity and good fortune, the practice certainly speaks to Anderson’s ongoing fascination with the natural world. Ahead of the upcoming show, the designer also teased a collection of whimsical objects, from swan-shaped minaudières to worm-filled fruits and floral-printed heels.
