Tucked away in Copenhagen’s vibrant Vesterbro district, Coco Hotel offers an inviting fusion of Parisian elegance and contemporary Danish design. During a brief but beautiful stint in the Scandi capital for Copenhagen Fashion Week, this boutique gem was the perfect base for exploring, shopping, and the general mania of work events.
The stylish retreat, just a stone’s throw from the bustling town centre and Copenhagen Central Station, feels intimate and cosmopolitan—ideal for both newcomers and veterans alike. In the already walkable city, being within skipping distance of the food and cultural hotspots makes a difference to any stay, especially when its striking tones and considered architecture transform every path into a scenic route.

With a global reputation of cutting-edge style to uphold, interior expectations were high. Still, stepping into Coco Hotel was like entering the pages of a glossy design magazine. The 89 rooms, ranging from snug singles to the opulent Junior Suite, harmoniously blend vintage charm and clean, modern lines.

The interiors exude a fun yet sophisticated ambience, with bespoke furniture and playful colours that mingle in a warm, neutral setting. A serene courtyard, which many rooms overlook, is at the centre of the property—and continues to live rent-free in my mind. It is perfect for enjoying a quiet moment with a morning coffee or evening aperitif, and after just five minutes amid this leafy oasis, I was certain they would have to pry me from the wicker chairs upon check-out.
Coco Café, the hotel’s on-site café and wine bar, is a hub of activity. By day, it serves a Scandinavian twist on the classic petit déjeuner, featuring freshly baked pastries and organic coffee for the morning folk tourists—which was a lifesaver when I learned the hard way that many establishments only open after 11 am in Copenhagen. By night, the space transforms into a chic social space with an extensive wine list and weekend DJ sessions by local creatives.

And if you, too, are a foodie, you’re in for a treat at Coco thanks to the hotel’s connection with the Copenhagen Food Collective (Cofoco). This means all guests receive priority access and discounts at 18 of the city’s most coveted dining spots, offering everything from Nordic-inspired plates to international culinary delights and casual eateries beloved by locals.

A standout feature of Coco Hotel is not just the feast it brings to the stomach and eyes but its dedication to sustainability. Powered entirely by renewable energy from Cofoco’s solar park in Jutland, the boutique hotel champions eco-friendly practices, from tree-planting initiatives to collaborations with sustainable suppliers. Staying here means indulging in luxury with a clear conscience.

Whether exploring the city’s historic streets or enjoying a game in the on-site ping-pong room, Coco Hotel offers a sophisticated yet relaxed base with a bright slice of Copenhagen and a comfortable place to unwind. Its blend of location, style, and values is unmatched, especially if you’re on a budget, making it a must-visit for discerning travellers.
