Call it a case of ‘When in Rome Syndrome’* but it looks like Gigi Hadid caught the Kawaii-cute beauty bug while in Tokyo. On ground in the Japanese capital to launch her TommyxGigi line in collaboration with American designer Tommy Hilfiger, the supermodel pulled off a cunning beauty chameleon move thanks to her travelling glam team.

At the hands of hairstylist Bryce Scarlett Hadid abandoned her usual Cali-girl waves, instead twisting her honey hair into some Harajuku-approved half-up buns. Next make-up artists Erin Parsons ditched Hadid’s usual bronzed smoky eye for a jewelled turquoise and silver liquid lined look.

And finally there wasn’t a nude nail in sight, instead Hadid’s go-to manicurist Mar y Sol finished the supermodel’s look with some blue and white geometric nail art, which paired back with the Tommy Hilfiger pieces perfectly. After seeing Hadid and pals walking the Fendi Spring/Summer 2017 show wearing half-up ponytails and cartoon-inspired make-up, we’ve been waiting for someone to take the equation off the catwalk. And with her sister Bella bringing in her birthday in similar silver-lined eyes, there’s never been a more on-point time to put black and brown eyeliner on the back-burner for something with a bit more sparkle.
