From Bella Hadid‘s vintage Jean Paul Gaultier gown to Helen Mirren‘s enduring elegance, the Cannes Film Festival red carpet has quenched our thirst for sartorial extravagance. Border closures and cancelled events has meant that the annual event is perhaps more significant than years gone by. And it is reflective in the magnificent looks.
Jodie Turner-Smith was the latest face to grace the red carpet overnight for the world premiere of After Yang. In a stunning epilogue to her sunshine yellow Gucci gown at the 2020 BAFTAs, Turner-Smith appeared at the Palais des Festivals wearing a custom strapless gown. Crafted by the Italian fashion house, the boned vinyl bodice was embroidered with crystals. The skirt was crafted from cream organza, yellow crystal embroidery and canary yellow ostrich feathers.
To finish the glitzy ensemble, Turner-Smith and her styling team paired the gown with a Gucci High Jewellery yellow gold necklace, bracelet, earrings and ring. The look was adorably coordinated with the actress’ young co-star Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja.
Earlier in the day, the Queen & Slim star appeared no less extravagant (by day time standards, anyway) in another Gucci look. It featured a pleated, asymmetric dress with the house’s signature green and red stripe. In an ode to the sci-fi film the actress was promoting, the look was aptly paired with leather shoulder pads and a whip – a futuristic twist. A removable collar, yellow gold rings and black strappy heels finished the outfit.
A day prior, the actress was spotted at Nice Airport in transit to Cannes. Her lime green set was most notably finished with the revived Gucci Diana tote bag released this month.
