Known amongst my colleagues as insurance for your skin, La Mer already ticks all of the anti-aging and regenerative boxes – we can thank the lovely people who hand-harvest its power ingredient, sea kelp, for that one – but what if it could do more?
At the core of the La Mer brand is a promise to protect and preserve the ocean. For those who know the brand story, the sea has long been La Mer’s muse. Inspired by every ripple, every fold and every rolling wave, the company’s founder Dr Max Huber was drawn to the ocean’s legendary healing powers many years ago.
In continuation of Dr Huber’s legacy, La Mer releases a Limited-Edition Blue Heart Crème de la Mer every 365 days on World Ocean Day (June 8). This year’s design features a glimmering hand-painted aesthetic, an ode to La Mer’s patronage to the sea as a vital ecosystem and pledge to preserve its habitats and wildlife.

For every public post on Instagram using both #LaMerBlueHeart and #LaMerDonation together in June 2020, La Mer will donate $25, up to $550k (USD), to the La Mer Blue Heart Oceans Fund to support their 2020 youth ocean education projects.
“We are committed to helping protect marine habitats across the globe, in hopes to ensure future flourishing seas for generations to come,” says the brand. “This year, we are supporting projects that focus on educating and empowering youth to become change agents in their local communities—as we strive to help ensure future flourishing seas for generations to come.”
