Two rebellious schoolgirls, one stolen afternoon and a convertible. Thirty-two years later, the same two women walked back into the spotlight.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Some music videos age. Others turn into time capsules. In 1994, MTV played one so often that an entire generation can still picture the black Ford Mustang convertible, the skipped class and the field with one word cut into it at the end.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

That video was Aerosmith’s “Crazy,” directed by Marty Callner, and its two stars were Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler. The song went on to win the Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. On Oct. 29, 2026, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, the two women stood on the same stage to introduce the band, right after the clip played on the giant screens.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Night Aerosmith Came Back<\/b><\/h2>\n

The setting was hardly ordinary. It was the first of two all-star shows marking the band’s return, three years after its farewell tour was cut short. Dave Grohl played drums for most of the six-song set, Johnny Depp joined Joe Perry on “Train Kept A-Rollin'” and original drummer Joey Kramer came back for the finale. “What a ride it’s been with my brothers,” Steven Tyler told the crowd. “It’s been 55 years.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Before any of that, the night belonged to two ’90s icons. Tyler, now 49, and Silverstone, now 50, walked out together. “Thank you so much to everyone who’s here tonight for coming to celebrate this music, this band and all of these musicians,” Liv said. Silverstone reportedly turned to her co-star to point out how young they had been back then, and added that they had brought their own children along. Tyler then asked the audience, in so many words, whether they were all dreaming. A fair question, frankly.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1994, Liv Tyler Was 16<\/b><\/h2>\n

“Crazy” was Liv Tyler’s screen debut. She was 16, and the frontman of the band was her father, a fact that had only become public in 1991, when she changed her surname from Rundgren to Tyler.<\/span><\/p>\n

For Silverstone, it was the third Aerosmith video in a row, after “Cryin'” and “Amazing” in 1993. MTV had effectively turned her into the band’s unofficial muse before Hollywood caught up.<\/span><\/p>\n

What They Did Next<\/b><\/h2>\n

Hollywood caught up fast. A year after “Crazy,” Silverstone became Cher Horowitz in Clueless, then Batgirl in Batman & Robin in 1997. She published The Kind Diet in 2009, became one of the best-known vegan voices in entertainment and has kept working steadily, with roles in Bugonia and A Merry Little Ex-Mas in 2025. Her son was born in 2011.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tyler went from Empire Records (1995) and Stealing Beauty (1996) to Armageddon in 1998, alongside her father’s song “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.” She then became Arwen in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, before HBO’s The Leftovers and 9-1-1: Lone Star. She is now a mother of three.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why This Reunion Hit So Hard<\/b><\/h2>\n

Reunions work when the original image is fixed in memory and the people in it have clearly lived full lives since. That is exactly what made the 50th anniversary of <\/span>Charlie’s Angels<\/span><\/a> so moving, and why pop culture keeps circling back to its own past, as <\/span>Ariana Grande did with “Thank U, Next”<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you grew up with that video, the best way to relive it is the simplest: watch it again, then watch the two of them on stage. Notice what has not changed. The grin, the ease, the friendship that clearly survived three decades of fame. The lesson worth borrowing is that some friendships do not need constant contact to stay intact.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1994, they were two teenagers in a Mustang who stole a summer and a generation’s attention.
