According to court documents obtained by <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/ben-affleck-jennifer-lopez-finalize-divorce-8702376#:~:text=Ben%20Affleck%20and%20Jennifer%20Lopez,Vegas%20ceremony%20in%20July%202022.\" target=\"_blank\"><em>People<\/em><\/a> magazine and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/entertainment\/celebrities\/2025\/01\/07\/jennifer-lopez-ben-affleck-divorce-finalized\/77504155007\/#:~:text=The%20couple%20lists%20their%20date,restored%20to%20Jennifer%20Lynn%20Lopez.\" target=\"_blank\"><em> USA Today<\/em><\/a>, the break-up has now been made official, marking the tragic end of one of Hollywood\u2019s greatest love stories. But as the two stars have endeavoured to split up their shared assets, there is one bright spot to this sad ending, in that Lopez has managed to keep ownership of her seven-figure <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/jennifer-lopez-and-ben-affleck-are-engaged\/\">engagement<\/a> ring.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/ben-affleck-jennifer-lopez-breakup-rumours\/\">Rumours<\/a> of cracks in the relationship had been swirling since May 2024, which fits with the separation date Lopez listed on the filing\u2014April 26, 2024\u2014citing \u201cirreconcilable differences.\u201d The singer filed for divorce on August 20, 2024, the <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/jennifer-lopez-ben-affleck-wedding-anniversary\/\">anniversary<\/a> of their wedding\u2014an <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/me\/articles\/ben-affleck-jennifer-lopez-wedding-scandals\/\">extravagant ceremony<\/a> at Affleck\u2019s Georgia estate.<\/p>\n<p>The settlement, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2025\/01\/06\/ben-affleck-jennifer-lopez-settle-divorce\/#:~:text=Ben%20and%20J%20Lo%20Settle%20Divorce%20...&amp;text=In%20a%20nutshell%2C%20each%20walks,spousal%20support%20to%20the%20other.\" target=\"_blank\"><em>TMZ<\/em><\/a>, suggests an amicable division of assets, including an agreement to sell their AU$109 million Los Angeles mansion. Each will retain funds they acquired individually during the marriage, with neither party obligated to provide spousal support. Indeed, a source reportedly close to Affleck\u2019s ex-wife and mother of his three children, Violet, 18, Fin, 15 and Samuel, 12, confirmed her support for the actor and director, explaining she only \u201cwants the best for\u201d him. &quot;She wants him happy and healthy so he can be the best dad possible,&quot; said the insider. The couple were said to be having relationship struggles following the release of Lopez\u2019s panned genre-bending romance musical, This Is Me... Now: A Love Story. Some tabloids had even gone so far as to say divorce was very much in the couple\u2019s future, with Affleck no longer living at their shared Los Angeles residence. Subsequent public appearances didn\u2019t help to quash this line of thought, as the Good Will Hunting star was seen without his wedding band on multiple occasions. Lopez is currently on a press tour for her latest release, a sci-fi Netflix film called Atlas, but is yet to comment on the reports herself. The couple allegedly spent Memorial Day weekend apart. Could it be the case that Hollywood\u2019s greatest reunion story has already closed its latest chapter? It\u2019s too soon to tell.
