At the Golden Globes<\/a> on Sunday, January 5, Demi Moore won the award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) for her turn as aging celebrity Elisabeth Sparkle in The Substance \u2014 and our collective hearts thanks to a profound acceptance speech<\/a> acknowledging self-love.<\/p>\n

Clad in a custom Armani Priv\u00e9 strapless, structured, gunmetal gown studded with Swarovski crystals, the 62-year-old actress retold a Hollywood tale with radical authenticity, landing with heartfelt, wise words: \u201cIn those moments when we don\u2019t think we\u2019re smart enough or pretty enough or skinny enough or successful enough or basically just not enough, I had a woman say to me, \u2018Just know you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick\u2019,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Many found Moore\u2019s statement relatable, and moreso, it wielded power as a stark reminder that even the best of us can feel less than at times \u2014 because the Brat Pack alum was arguably one of the head-to-toe best-dressed stars of the night<\/a>. And that\u2019s what makes her prep for the red carpet that night more interesting than ever!<\/p>\n

Getting Ready<\/h2>\n

Hours before the event, Moore huddled with her Golden Globes glam team in a suite at the Beverly Hilton with a beautiful view, upstairs from the event venue. As the star and her stylist, Brad Goreski<\/a>, made the final decision on the dress, hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos<\/a> and makeup artist Rokael Lizama<\/a> set to work on the glam plan.<\/p>\n

Lizama, known for creating the look of lit-from-within glowing skin (seen on clients including Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and, oh, Beyonc\u00e9, no big deal), chose to complement the metallic dress with a gilded eye. He used two eyeshadow palettes from Dior Beauty to achieve the look.<\/p>\n

First, he brushed shades from the Diorshow 5 Colours compact in 481 Poncho<\/a> \u201call over her eyelids and under the eyelashes to create a smoky effect,\u201d and then, \u201cfor contrast,\u201d he used the glitter shadow in 616 Grand Bal<\/a> on inner corners.<\/p>\n

It’s All in the Details<\/h2>\n

In an exclusive interview, the makeup master shares more details behind the making of Moore’s Golden Globes beauty look \u2014 and the experience that led to the moment of Moore\u2019s epic win. Spoiler alert: Good vibes were in effect!<\/p>\n

GRAZIA:<\/b> You\u2019re the complexion king! How did you give Demi her glow?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Rokael Lizama: <\/strong>To create her flawless red carpet skin, I used the Dior Forever Skin Perfect Multi-Use Foundation Stick<\/a> in shade 2.5 N as her base color and 4N to contour and shape her face. As her highlight and under eye concealer I used shade 1N and blended it out with my fingers, I love that the stick is so compact and it can go into my client\u2019s clutch for on-the-go touch ups.<\/p>\n

GRAZIA:<\/b> How many days out do you usually start prepping for the look? How closely is the makeup tied to the dress? And when is the dress decided? Is it a game-day decision?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Lizama:<\/strong> We usually find out the day of what the final dress will be, so I come fully prepared to create any look that will work with the dress or outfit. It\u2019s important to connect the makeup look to the outfit to make sure it works in harmony with the final look.<\/p>\n

GRAZIA: <\/b>What was the vibe like as you were getting ready for the Globes?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Lizama:<\/strong> We listened to \u201870s disco music and snacked on French fries!<\/p>\n

GRAZIA:<\/b> Did you send Demi off with any products to help the makeup last throughout the night?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Lizama:<\/strong> I made sure to send her off with the Dior Forever Skin Perfect Multi-Use Foundation Stick<\/a> in shade 2.5 N for any minor touch ups and for her lips, the Rouge Dior Contour Lip Liner in 259 Nude Ribbon<\/a> to lightly define her lip line. And to add a sheer wash of color, the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil in 061 Poppy Coral<\/a>.<\/p>\n

GRAZIA:<\/b> After she left for the red carpet what did YOU do?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Lizama:<\/strong> I stayed in the room and watched The Golden Globes on TV and waited until they announced her win!!! The whole team screamed with excitement and joy!
