British designer Louise Trotter has been named the new creative director of Bottega Veneta<\/a>, succeeding Matthieu Blazy<\/a>, who is departing for the role of artistic director at Chanel<\/a>. The announcement, quickly announced after news of Blazy’s departure broke, marks a pivotal moment for the storied Italian house and its parent company, Kering.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Though relatively under the radar, Trotter has become known for her understated innovation\u2014a vision we’re intrigued to see take shape at Bottega Veneta. Her most recent tenure was at Carven<\/a>, where she is credited with breathing new life into the fledgling Maison. Under her leadership, Trotter transformed Carven into a contemporary powerhouse, placing it firmly back on our radars with a fusion of minimalism and opulence.<\/p>\n

Though Blazy’s indelible mark on the House will be missed, Trotter’s new chapter ushers in an exciting new era, particularly considering her innate sense for modern womenswear.<\/p>\n
