Margot Robbie’s meteoric rise to stardom can be traced back to her iconic role<\/a> as Naomi Lapaglia in Martin Scorsese<\/a>‘s The Wolf of Wall Street<\/em>, which debuted in 2013. But it wasn\u2019t just Scorsese\u2019s directorial vision or Leonardo DiCaprio<\/a>‘s Oscar-nominated performance that made the film unforgettable. Robbie\u2019s fearless portrayal saw the budding starlet risk it all for a scene\u2014you know the one\u2014that fans still talk about ten years on. As it turns out, though, it wasn’t the director’s choice to have Robbie in her birthday suit, but the actress herself.<\/p>\n

Appearing on the Talking Pictures<\/em> <\/a>podcast with Ben Mankiewicz, Robbie recalled working on her breakout role, revealing that Scorsese, ever the collaborative gentleman, offered her a way to avoid going full-frontal during a scene with DiCaprio.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said, \u2018Maybe you can be wearing a robe if you\u2019re not comfortable,\u2019\u201d Robbie explained. \u201cBut that\u2019s not what she would do in that scene.\u201d Naomi\u2019s unapologetic confidence demanded a bolder choice, which Robbie embraced.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole point is that she\u2019s going to come out completely naked,” she asserted. “That\u2019s the card she\u2019s playing right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor, then just in her early 20s and at the dawn of a major career<\/a>, was already proving her mettle in a room filled with Hollywood titans.<\/p>\n

Robbie famously slapped DiCaprio in the face during a moment of improvisation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought, \u2018I could kiss Leonardo DiCaprio right now\u2026\u2019 And then I thought, ‘Nah’. And just walloped him in the face,\u201d she recounted. The risk, which she laughed about instantly picturing jail time for, paid off and elicited roaring laughter from both Scorsese and DiCaprio.<\/p>\n
