Anwar Hadid sparked major criticism this week after stating his blunt opinion on the COVID-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n

Via his Instagram Story, the 21-year-old<\/a> responded to an inquiring fan that he will “absolutely not” get the vaccine when it becomes available to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cEither i just don’t get [the coronavirus] or i get it and god willing heal from it and get antibodies rather than do that process unnaturally,” he further explained at the time: “Our bodies are made by the creator to do way more than we think.”<\/p>\n

Not surprisingly, fans were quick to call him out on social media saying his stance was not only selfish \u2014 but irresponsible, given the rapidly escalating<\/a> number of cases of the virus in the country. Facing major backlash, the model jumped back IG stories on Tuesday trying to clarify his controversial personal opinion.<\/p>\n

“Im not ‘anti vax,'” he back-pedaled. “I think everyone has to be careful with each vaccine individually looking at positive and possible negative effects. I have taken vaccines before but As someone who has had a compromised immune system, I want to continue to learn about the many ways i can protect myself and others.”<\/p>\n

Hadid, his mom, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills<\/em> alum Yolanda Hadid and his supermodel sister Bella Hadid have all allegedly been diagnosed with and suffered from Lyme disease, a condition that can subvert one’s immune system.<\/p>\n

Trying extra hard to smooth over the outrage,\u00a0Hadid took time to recognize healthcare workers<\/a> who have been busier than ever this holiday season.<\/p>\n

“Never meant to offend anyone with my words and I am so grateful for all the frontline workers and doctors and the powerful work they have done during this time,” he said. “I’m listening and I’m all about the conversation.”<\/p>\n
