As we start to round out the year, we’re looking back on all the fashion do’s and don’ts of 2024. One trend that continued to grow in popularity throughout the year, dominating the red carpets, was, you guessed it, the sheer dress.<\/p>\n

With the rise in female empowerment has also come the rise of women owning their sexuality \u2014 and on their own terms. In what used to be a case of “dressing for the male gaze” has now become women dressing for their own sense of power, and for no other reason than, well, simply they can. And what’s more empowering than that?<\/p>\n

As GRAZIA<\/em> previously covered, there’s a hot topic of conversation about the rise of these dresses being worn on the red carpets of some of the biggest fashion events in the industry; the biggest question being, “Why has the bathing suit replaced the dress?<\/a>”<\/p>\n

Despite the controversy, it doesn’t seem like this trend is going anywhere. Seen on the catwalks of some of the biggest designers<\/a>, from Fendi to Ferretti, sheer is one of the top trends for the upcoming Spring\/Summer 2025 season \u2014 not only in dresses but also across tops, trousers, jackets, and more.<\/p>\n

No matter your personal take on the style<\/a>, one thing is for certain: from the steps of the Met Gala to the feed on the ‘Gram, the sheer dress has quickly become the<\/em> whole moment this year.
