In a recent interview on <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, audiences were reminded of just how long Grande had been campaigning to portray the perky sorceress. The host read out a tweet shared by Grande in 2011 that read: \u201dLoved seeing Wicked again \u2026 amazing production! For the uninitiated, Jon M. Chu\u2019s two-part silver screen rendering of the Tony Award-winning Broadway production is a project that\u2019s been twenty years in the making. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And with the source material, both Gregory Maguire\u2019s 1995 revisionist companion to\u00a0 L. Frank Baum\u2019s turn-of-the-century children\u2019s novel and the subsequent film, are works of great literary and cultural significance, it\u2019s quite bewitching that Grande summarises the legacy of these characters all with a poof of pink fabric.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Grande\u2019s co-star, Cynthia Erivo, also followed suit by rendering her character, Elphaba, in wickedly delightful custom Louis Vuitton. (Photo by Don Arnold\/WireImage)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wicked <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">follows the life and times of the Wicked Witch of the West as it revises the story of what happened before <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/harry-styles-gucci-halloween-costume\/\">Dorothy<\/a> and her little dog Toto blew in on a tornado from Kansas. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI hope people watching become inspired to be more empathetic and be less judgemental of what we see,\u201d Grande told the audience at the harbour city\u2019s State Theatre of the film. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere are so many layers to everything, and there is so much humanness and context that gets erased these days,\u201d she added. \u201cI hope [the film] inspires people to lead with more love and find someone like Elphaba who\u2019ll pop their bubble someday.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wicked <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">launches in Australian theatres on November 21, 2024.
