For it\u2019s first foray into fragrance, Bottega Veneta<\/a> is not playing small. The Italian fashion house launched a line of five unique fragrances<\/a>, and from the scent compositions to the highly tactile bottles, each intricate detail borrows significant details from the history of the brand \u2014 while pointing to the future.<\/p>\n

Creative director Matthieu Blazy<\/a> gained inspiration for the collection from the heritage of the house and it\u2019s origin city Venice<\/a>. The magical city of canals has long been a hub of cross-cultural trade and interaction and thus, each fragrance contains essences \u2014 that are of 100% natural origin \u2014 from all corners of the globe.<\/p>\n

Each of the five perfume<\/a>s is meant to evoke exotic fantasies of far flung travels and meaningful moments. Reminiscent of a holiday under the Mediterranean sun is Colpe di Sole, which has notes of French Angelica oil and orange blossom from Morocco. Come with Me blends zingy Italian Bergamot and powdery violet. Redolent of salt water on skin is Acqua Sale, a blend of woody labdanum from Spain and Macedonian juniper oil. D\u00e9j\u00e0 Minuit<\/a> (which roughly translates to \u201calready midnight\u201d) is the sexiest of the bunch, with subtly spicy cardamom from Guatemala and heady Geranium blooms from Madagascar. Alchemie is lush with Somalian myrrh laced with pink pepper from Brazil for a decidedly luxe lingering aroma.<\/p>\n

The scents smell divine, but on a vanity, they look even better. Since Blazy joined the brand, he\u2019s been extra thoughtful about the tactility of fabrics and details. This is evident in the perfume bottles, which are luxuriously textured to recall the undulating waters of Venice. The design has a further nod to the world-renowned glass blowers of Murano. Bottles sit on a stand of green Verde Saint Denis marble, reminiscent of Venetian architecture. Even the cap, made of wood, pays homage to the foundation of Venetian palaces which need to be raised when the waters rise.<\/p>\n

Looking to the future, the launch pays special attention to sustainability. Each bottle is meant to live on one\u2019s vanity forever \u2014 the plastic-free design is refillable.
