Known for her penchant for black dressing<\/a>, it was refreshing to see Jennifer Aniston in an elegant ivory beaded gown at the 76th annual primetime Emmy Awards<\/a> in Los Angeles on September 15. The Oscar de la Renta floor-length number was teamed with Tiffany & Co. archival earrings, a bracelet and a ring\u2014all in platinum with diamonds.<\/p>\n

The 55-year-old actor is nominated in the Best Actress category for her role as the distinguished, sharp-shooting television anchor<\/a> Alex Levy on Apple TV+\u2019s The Morning Show<\/a><\/em> (or Morning Wars<\/em> as it\u2019s known in Australia), now in its third season. Aniston will go head-to-head with co-star Reese Witherspoon for the golden gong, as well as Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age<\/em>), Maya Erskine (Mr. and Mrs. Smith<\/em>), Anna Swai (Sh\u014dgun<\/em>) and Imelda Staunton (The Crown<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Aniston took home Best Actress<\/a> for the same role at the 2020 SAG Awards<\/a>, a moment made famous when footage of the actor and ex-husband Brad Pitt reuniting backstage<\/a> emerged.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoy, did we get to dive deep into our own experiences [to] breathe life into these extraordinary characters,\u201d Aniston said<\/a> upon accepting that award. \u201cWho knew emotional breakdowns felt that good? It was literally like seven months of therapy covering 20 years of work. So, thank you for watching that!\u201d<\/p>\n

Aniston and Witherspoon, 48, first met on the set of\u00a0Friends<\/em>\u00a0when Witherspoon, then 23, was playing Aniston\u2019s character\u2019s younger sister.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was 23 years old and had just had a baby,\u201d Witherspoon told\u00a0People<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI was nursing [daughter] Ava on set, and Jen just kept going, \u2018You have a baby?\u2019 I was like, \u2018I know, it\u2019s weird.\u2019 \u2026 I remember her being like, \u2018Where are you going?\u2019 And I was like, \u2018I\u2019m pumping!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking of Friends<\/em>, fellow Emmy nominee Selena Gomez recently told The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/em> that it was Aniston\u2019s character, Rachel, who taught her how to perfect the \u201cgracious loser face\u201d should she not win today.
