The ongoing drama surrounding Frogmore Cottage is like a soap opera set in the British monarchy. This picturesque home on the Windsor estate has seen its fair share of inhabitants and controversies. Let\u2019s unravel the latest twist involving Frogmore Cottage.<\/p>\n

A Quick History of Frogmore Cottage<\/h2>\n

In 2018, shortly after their wedding, Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle moved into Frogmore Cottage. Situated on the Windsor estate, this charming residence became their primary home. But in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex packed their bags and moved to the United States. Enter Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, who briefly occupied Frogmore Cottage. By June 2023, Harry and Meghan were officially “evicted” after repaying the \u00a32.4 million renovation costs initially financed by taxpayers. Since then, Frogmore Cottage remains empty, awaiting its next royal tenants.<\/p>\n

Who’s Next in Line for Frogmore Cottage?<\/h2>\n

The British press is buzzing with speculation. King Charles<\/a> suggests moving his brother Andrew into Frogmore Cottage, ousting him from the more lavish Royal Lodge. Charles aims to cut off Andrew’s luxury living, especially since his younger brother became persona non grata following a major sex scandal. To make matters worse, Royal Lodge falls outside Windsor Castle\u2019s secure perimeter, adding to Charles’ security concerns. Although moving Andrew seems like a practical solution, Andrew holds a 75-year lease on Royal Lodge, dating back to 2003. He\u2019s not keen on relocating, seeing it as a significant downgrade.<\/p>\n

Kate and William’s Reluctance<\/h2>\n

So, who else might occupy this empty house? The Cambridge family, now known as the Waleses, would be logical choices. Yet, don’t hold your breath. According to GBNews, Prince William and Kate Middleton<\/a> have no desire to move in. In 2022, they opted for Adelaide Cottage, a home just a short walk away, where they live happily with their three children. The idea of moving to the cottage doesn\u2019t appeal to them at all.<\/p>\n

And there\u2019s another hurdle. Kate reportedly refuses to live in a place that Meghan Markle renovated. Royal expert Anne Diamond notes, “It’s a huge place. But if it’s been renovated by Meghan and Harry, I don’t imagine Kate would want to move in. No more than William.”<\/em> It appears the rift between the Waleses and the Sussexes runs deep. So deep that it even extends to their choice of residence.<\/p>\n
