Nutritionist Rapha\u00ebl Gruman tells us not to undermine the benefits of yellow kiwi. Here are the many reasons this <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/why-you-should-add-fresh-fruit-to-your-breakfast\/\">fruit should be a staple in your kitchen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Rich in Vitamin C<\/h2>\n<p><em>&#8220;The yellow kiwi trumps the green kiwi when it comes to vitamin C. Even though the green variety is already packed with it, just one yellow kiwi can fulfill your daily vitamin C needs,&#8221;<\/em> says Rapha\u00ebl Gruman to <em>Top Sant\u00e9.<\/em> According to the nutritionist, morning is the best time to eat a yellow kiwi. <em>&#8220;The surge of vitamin C energizes you for the day, especially since yellow kiwi also provides essential carbohydrates,&#8221;<\/em> he explains.<\/p>\n<p>Whether for breakfast or a pre\/post-workout snack, yellow kiwi is versatile. <strong>Eat it before workouts for an energy boost and after workouts to help recovery<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/food-strengthen-immune-system\/\">support your immune system<\/a>, preventing that dreaded energy crash.<\/p>\n<h2>Good for Digestive Health<\/h2>\n<p><em>&#8220;Yellow kiwi is <strong>fiber-rich, even more so than its green counterpart.<\/strong> I often recommend it to my constipated patients for morning consumption. The fiber helps regulate bowel movements and is gentle on the colon,&#8221;<\/em> says Rapha\u00ebl Gruman. This is particularly vital for those with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), who need gentle yet effective fiber.<\/p>\n<h2>A Sweet, Slimming Ally<\/h2>\n<p><em>&#8220;In terms of taste, the yellow kiwi is sweeter and milder compared to the more acidic green kiwi,&#8221;<\/em> says Gruman. Despite its sweet taste, it is low in sugar, making it ideal for weight loss diets. The fiber content helps <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/20-minute-rle-fight-hunger-pangs\/\">stave off hunger pangs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So why is this amazing fruit still under-consumed? <em>&#8220;It&#8217;s simply not well-known yet. Its consumption has not become mainstream,&#8221;<\/em> Gruman laments. It also has a limited seasonality, available mainly in spring and summer, unlike the green kiwi available year-round.<\/p>\n<h2>To Peel or Not to Peel?<\/h2>\n<p>In a surprising twist, American gastroenterologist &#8220;Stomach Doc&#8221; created a buzz in early June by advising people to eat the skin of the green kiwi for its extra fiber and nutrients. His social media post, inspired by a video featuring actress Jenna Ortega (&#8220;Jane The Virgin,&#8221; &#8220;You,&#8221; &#8220;Wednesday&#8221;), pointed out that eating the kiwi skin gives you 50% more fiber.<\/p>\n<p>But what about the yellow kiwi skin? Rapha\u00ebl Gruman says it\u2019s not worth the bother. <em><strong>&#8220;It doesn&#8217;t offer much nutritional benefit. I recommend peeling the yellow kiwi,&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> he advises.
