Princess Diana left us prematurely in 1997<\/a>, at the age of 36. This July 1st, she would have been 63 years old, and her memory is far from forgotten. Among the touching tributes, one stood out\u2014shared by her sister-in-law, Sarah Ferguson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, took to Instagram to share a deeply personal message. \u201cHappy birthday to my dear friend Diana,”<\/em> she wrote. “You were a pillar of light and love. And what a legacy you left behind.”<\/em> Sarah remembered their shared laughter and the caring spirit Diana embodied. “I will always remember our bursts of laughter and the fraternal and caring spirit that I found in you,”<\/em> she continued. She ended her touching tribute with, \u201cI am sure that you always watch over us, my friend.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The post featured a nostalgic photo of the two in hats, standing on the Buckingham Palace balcony. The image was from September 1990, during the fiftieth anniversary of the Battle of Britain.<\/p>\n

The response to Sarah\u2019s tribute was immense. Lady Diana fans flooded the comments section, expressing their gratitude and love for Diana. Comments like, “You two would be having so much fun right now if she were still here,” and “Thank you for this memory of Princess Diana. She will always be in people’s hearts,”<\/em> highlighted how much she is still missed. Another fan reminisced, “I have so many memories of you and Diana both giggling!!!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Sarah Ferguson and Diana Spencer’s Friendship<\/h2>\n

Sarah and Diana\u2019s bond started long before they became part of the royal family. Despite being distant cousins, they were best friends from their teenage years. Their mothers were friends too. In an interview with People in 2023, Sarah said, \u201cWe loved each other with all our hearts, and she made me laugh more than anyone I’ve ever met.\u201d<\/em> Diana’s infectious laughter resonated in the hallways, and her unique ability to give wholeheartedly left an indelible mark on Sarah.<\/p>\n

When Diana became a princess, Sarah looked up to her and considered her a role model. \u201cI watched her, and I just copied her.
