It’s not just Prince Harry and Meghan Markle against the Mountbatten-Windsors. They are also at odds with another British power couple: David and Victoria Beckham. Netflix may love to feature both duos<\/a>, but their real-life relationship isn\u2019t as picture-perfect as their documentaries.<\/p>\n

In 2020, the world was shocked by the brewing conflict between the Sussexes and the Beckhams. Everything seemed peachy before; David and Victoria even attended Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding<\/a> two years prior. But the glitzy friendship didn’t last long. Things changed, and boy, did they change quickly!<\/p>\n

The Friendship Was Damaged<\/h2>\n

So, what went wrong? According to Tom Bower, author of “The House of Beckham: Money, Sex, and Power,” things started going south when Harry and Meghan suspected the Beckhams of leaking private stories to tabloids. This distrust came to a head during the Invictus Games in October 2018. Prince Harry allegedly “snubbed” David Beckham, even ghosting him.<\/p>\n

Victoria Beckham didn\u2019t help matters either. She reportedly boasted to English tabloids about playing guardian angel to Meghan in 2017. Victoria lent her a villa in Los Angeles to escape the paparazzi and gave her beauty tips for the London scene.<\/p>\n

Why Did Prince Harry and Meghan Cut Ties With the Beckhams?<\/h2>\n

Understandably miffed, Meghan allegedly urged Harry to confront David over the phone. That call went about as poorly as you’d expect, leading Harry and Meghan to leave the Beckhams off the guest list for their royal wedding dinner.<\/p>\n

Tom Bower’s book, out since June 20, sheds more light on why the Sussexes severed ties with the Beckhams for good. It wasn’t just tabloid gossip; money was at the heart of the problem. Money has a way of complicating things, doesn’t it?<\/p>\n

Meghan’s Alleged Jealousy<\/h2>\n

Bower argues that Meghan’s jealousy played a big role. He suggests she was envious of the Beckhams’ massive fortune, which dwarfs the net worth of the Sussexes. The bad blood culminated in Harry and Meghan not scoring an invite to Brooklyn Beckham’s wedding in April 2022.<\/p>\n

Adding insult to injury, David and Victoria have publicly supported Prince William and Kate Middleton<\/a>. David Beckham even joined the Prince and Princess of Wales in Boston to promote their Earthshot Prize in December 2022.<\/p>\n

Clearly, this isn’t just another celebrity spat. It\u2019s a full-blown feud with no signs of a happy ending. If there\u2019s one takeaway here, it\u2019s that even in royal and celebrity circles, friendships can be as fragile as glass. Whether it\u2019s due to money, jealousy, or simply bad press, the fallout between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and the Beckhams is proof that not all that glitters is gold.<\/p>\n
