Remember back in April 2021? Zac Efron appeared in a video for Earth Day, and his puffy face set the internet ablaze<\/a>. Fans everywhere wondered, \u201cWhat happened to Zac Efron\u2019s jaw?\u201d<\/em> After much speculation, the 34-year-old actor has finally addressed the rumors surrounding his unexpected physical transformation.<\/p>\n

Turns out, Zac Efron\u2019s jaw didn\u2019t change due to plastic surgery or a bad reaction to meds. Nope, it was something much more mundane and a bit embarrassing. In an interview with Men\u2019s Health<\/em>, Zac explained that he broke his jaw running around his house in socks. He slipped and bashed his chin on a corner of a granite fountain. Ouch! He lost consciousness and when he woke up, \u201cmy chin was hanging off his face.\u201d<\/em> Talk about a nightmare scenario.<\/p>\n

Once at the hospital, Zac underwent surgery to fix his broken jaw. But healing wasn\u2019t straightforward. The muscles inside his face and jaw didn\u2019t return to their natural shape immediately. His masseter muscle, which is crucial for chewing, became \u201creally, really big.\u201d<\/em> For several months, he worked with a specialist to help his jaw look more like its old self.<\/p>\n

Zac discovered the whole \u201cjaw-gate\u201d situation thanks to his mom. She saw the online buzz and worriedly asked if he had cosmetic surgery<\/a>. Even his own mom was suspicious! Zac, who\u2019s not very active on social media<\/a>, reassured her that no, he hadn\u2019t gone under the knife for aesthetic reasons.<\/p>\n
