Despite thirty years passing since Rachel Green \u201cgot off the plane\u201d, Jennifer Aniston remembers the exact day the hit NBC sit-com <\/span>Friends <\/span><\/i>premiered like it was yesterday. In a new interview<\/a> with <\/span>Abbott Elementary <\/span><\/i>creator and star, Quinta Brunson<\/a>, the 55-year-old actress emotionally opened up about the beloved series\u2019 three-decade milestone, her relationship with her co-stars and the continued \u201cgift\u201d starring in one of the most popular shows of all time allowed her. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, the most tender moment of the exchange came when Aniston teared up over the late Matthew Perry<\/a>, who tragically passed away in a surprise drowning in early 2024. When asked what it’s like watching the show now, Aniston was overcome with emotions and began tearing up. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOh god, don\u2019t make me cry,\u201d the <\/span>Morning Wars <\/span><\/i><\/a>actress said. Lovingly, Brunston replied by saying, \u201cWe won\u2019t make each other cry\u201d. \u201cDo you want a minute? We don\u2019t have to talk about it,\u201d Brunston added, giving Aniston the comfort and grace to process her grief.<\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry,\u201d Aniston said while wiping her eyes. \u201cI\u2019m just thinking about\u2026\u201d she trailed off, obviously referencing Perry. \u201cI\u2019m ok, it’s happy tears!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

After regaining her composure, the comedy veterans continued the interview, with Brunston acknowledging the celebratory anniversary. \u201c<\/span>Friends<\/span><\/i> is turning 30,\u201d Brunston said, to which Aniston jokingly responded, \u201cAnd I\u2019m turning 30!\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so strange to even think that it\u2019s 30 years old. Because I remember the day that it was going to premiere on television,\u201d she added, reflecting on that pilot airing in 1994. \u201cMatthew Perry and I were having lunch somewhere, and we knew Lisa [Kudrow] was getting her hair coloured. So we ran into the hair salon, and I snuck up \u2014 she was in the sink \u2014 and I took the nozzle from the guy that was supposed to be doing it and just started washing her hair,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt definitely flew out of control, and that was unfortunate. But the excitement we had, it feels like yesterday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that it\u2019s had this long, wonderful life and it still means a lot to people is one of the greatest gifts I think all five of us \u2014 all six of us \u2014 we never could imagine.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Anniston also confirmed that she and the entire ensemble cast, whom she refers to as her family, are still in contact. \u201cI talked on FaceTime with Court last night for an hour, and Lisa and the boys, and we just have a really \u2014 it\u2019s a family forever,\u201d she said. <\/span><\/p>\n

Anniston and her on-screen, on-again-off-again boyfriend David Schwimmer (who portrayed her \u2018lobster<\/a>\u2019 Ross Geller), recently reunited for an UberEats commercial<\/a>.
