Make no doubt about it\u2014Manhattanites are ditching the hot summer in the city for balmy escapes. <\/span><\/p>\n

Only last week was Kaia Gerber spotted in front of SoHo\u2019s cast-iron buildings (and later, on the tarmac of a helipad), toting her typical travel uniform<\/a> and Celine canvas duffle bag before showing up on Camila Marrone\u2019s Instagram at the tropical Palm Heights Grand Cayman hotel<\/a>. Mary-Kate Olsen<\/a>, who is a perennial fixture of the Greenwich Village \u2018cigarette break\u2019 scene, headed uptown past The Row\u2019s Upper East Side townhouse boutique to their new seasonal residency in Amagansett. Even Meredith Hayden, the viral TikTok cooking sensation known by her handle @wishbonekitchen<\/a>, traded in Brooklyn for a kickstart on her signature Hamptons private chef residence.<\/span><\/p>\n

With New Yorkers flying the coop, it should come as no surprise then to see Meatpacking\u2019s Katie Holmes<\/a> walking around the city<\/a> lugging a ludicrously capacious weekender bag.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

To quote Succession\u2019s<\/em> Tom Wambsgans<\/a>, the <\/span>gargantuan <\/span><\/i>carry-all certainly had enough room to fit a lunch pail and flats for the subway. But when schlepping an oversized tote<\/a> through your backyard, isn\u2019t this piece the perfect gateway into getaway style? (See the pictures for yourself, here<\/a>). <\/span><\/p>\n

Yes, as we saw in the styling at Bottega Veneta\u2019s recent Fall\/Winter 2024<\/a> collection presentation in Milan, the most luxurious thing you can do is carry the biggest purse in their accessories arsenal. (Bonus points if you weld more than one!)\u00a0 And if life is supposedly about the journey and not the destination, shouldn\u2019t we be making room for the pieces we collect on our travels, even if where we\u2019re going is a mere block away? <\/span><\/p>\n

The bag in question was a white canvas travel bag from Italian luggage maker, Bric\u2019s. The actress styled the look rather demurely when compared to her signature eclectic style<\/a>, pairing it with an unfussy sand-coloured t-shirt, prim white denim pants and black two-tone ballet flats. Perhaps taking cues from Saint Laurent\u2019s new utilitarian Summer 2024 collection, which was recently immortalised in a new campaign starring Hailey Bieber<\/a>, this nondescript functional ensemble lends itself to suit a matter of climates. <\/span><\/p>\n
