The first Monday in May, the annual date of the Met Gala, is not only a showcase of sartorial masterpieces. Indeed, it might be dubbed fashion\u2019s night of nights, but it also serves as the official entree into the upper echelon of stardom for many style savants. On the moss-inspired green carpet at the 2024 Met Gala<\/a>, actress and Jonathan Anderson muse Taylor Russell is one such debutant.<\/p>\n

In a custom LOEWE gown<\/a>, it\u2019s apparent that Russell is not only the diamond of the season, but the proverbial rose in this garden (of time). This year\u2019s balls commanded guests to adhere to the dress code inspired by J.G. Ballard\u2019s 1962 short story of the same name. Taking cues from the woodland environment evoked by the English novelist, Russell embodied the decadence and decay of tonight\u2019s gala.<\/p>\n

For her first ascent of the famed Metropolitan Museum of Art steps, Russell donned a trompe-l’\u0153il wooden corset rendered with a decorative lacquered pattern designed to resemble marquetry. The bodice flitted into a silk cr\u00eape marocain draped skirt with a thigh-high slit.<\/p>\n

Speaking to red carpet hosts Gwendoline Christie and Ashley Graham, the 29-year-old revealed the surreal piece was the culmination of different variants of the timber motif. \u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to be a tree!\u201d the Bones And All<\/em> breakout star joked.<\/p>\n

Russell walked the steps alongside fellow LOEWE girl Greta Lee. Russell\u2019s boyfriend, pop supernova Harry Styles<\/a>, wasn\u2019t present to support her as she attended her first Met. But if their Manhattan couple street style<\/a> is anything to go by, Russell has the marker of an \u2018It girl\u2019 in bloom, irrespective of the setting.<\/p>\n
