Nicole Kidman receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Film Institute wasn\u2019t the only first to occur during the star-studded ceremony in Hollywood over the weekend. (For the uninitiated, the Oscar winner<\/a> became the first Australian to earn the prestigious industry accolade.) <\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed, Kidman ensured the gilded outing was a family affair as she was joined by her husband, country musician Keith Urban, and their rarely-seen daughters, Sunday Rose, 15, and Faith Margaret, 13. The teenagers are amongst the few \u2018nepotism babies\u2019 who remain out of the spotlight. Yet on the red carpet<\/a> lining the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, the couple\u2019s children used the platform as their entr\u00e9e into stardom. <\/span><\/p>\n

Kidman revealed in her acceptance speech that this was no coincidence. \u201cThere\u2019s an enormous amount of luck in my life, but there\u2019s also the most important thing\u2014love, big, big love,\u201d the 56-year-old shared, gesturing to her husband and children. \u201cRight there is the love of my life and the loves of my life,\u201d she continued. \u201cMy daughters have never been anywhere publicly with me on a red carpet, tonight was their first night, so they\u2019re here, Sunday and Faith.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Kidman\u2019s sister, Antonia, and her nieces and nephews, including Channel 7 presenter Lucia Hawley, also joined her at the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kidman opted for a gold custom Balenciaga dress from the luxuriate\u2019s influencer-culture-inspired Pre-Fall 2024 collection<\/a>, (which, coincidentally, was staged only a few blocks away from the event in the ritzy suburb of Hancock Park) and styled the golden number with a pair of black Gianvito Rossi<\/a> pointed toe pumps.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kidman\u2019s <\/span>Big Little Lies <\/span><\/i>and <\/span>The Hours<\/span><\/i> co-star, Meryl Streep, presented the actress with the award, joking to the crowd about her \u201ctraumatizing\u201d experience working with such a formidable force. Speaking of their time onset during the second season<\/a> of the television adaption of Liane Moriarty\u2019s best-selling novel. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the time when I really came within breathing distance of the formidable gifts Nicole has, and her process and her seismic bank of emotion she\u2019s got locked up inside there and her stamina and her drive to be an artist and her discipline,\u201d Streep shared.\u00a0 \u201cI haven\u2019t recovered from that first day, I\u2019ve never seen anything like that in my life,\u201d Streep added. \u201cFor me, it was traumatizing because I thought this woman is a Valkyrie.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Reese Witherspoon<\/a>, who also starred and co-produced the hit series alongside Kidman, was in attendance, too. Kidman was honoured at the event for her impactful performances in culturally significant<\/a> projects like Stanley Krubrick\u2019s <\/a><\/span>Eye Wide Shut<\/span><\/i>, Baz Luhrmann’s <\/span>Moulin Rouge!<\/span><\/i><\/a> and\u00a0 Jonathan Glazer\u2019s <\/span>Birth. <\/span><\/i>She\u2019ll soon reprise the role of Celeste Wright in the upcoming third season of <\/a><\/span>Big Little Lies<\/span><\/i><\/a>, which is currently in production. <\/span><\/p>\n
