Eva Mendes says she and her partner Ryan Gosling<\/a> had a mutual, non-verbal agreement that he would work on movies and she would stay at home to look after their two daughters.<\/p>\n

Speaking with the Today<\/em> <\/a>show in the U.S., Mendes, 50, says it was a \u201cno brainer\u201d to put her Hollywood career on hold while she spent more time with her young children Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was almost just like a non-verbal agreement [between Ryan and I] that it was like, \u2018OK, he\u2019s going to work and I\u2019m going to work, I\u2019m just going to work here<\/em> [at home],\u2019\u201d Mendes says. \u201cI still worked, I just didn\u2019t act because acting takes you on locations, it takes you away.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mendes\u2014who is now spruiking a new cleaning product brand called Skura\u2014met and fell in love with Gosling on the set of the 2012 film\u00a0The Place Beyond the Pines<\/em><\/a>, a high-octane tale of a motorcycle stunt rider who turns to robbing banks to provide for his former partner and their newborn.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have never experienced anything like that,\u201d Mendes says. \u201cThe way [Ryan] works, his commitment to his craft, how he wants to make everything as best it could be, and that means making his co-stars as best as they could be\u2026But unfortunately, or fortunately,\u00a0there is only one Ryan. So, I pretty much stopped just acting after that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since her role in the Place Beyond The Pines<\/em> 12 years ago, Mendes has had six acting roles.<\/p>\n
