There must be something in the air \u2013 at least if you\u2019re a Victoria\u2019s Secret<\/a> alum. After Gigi Hadid<\/a> recently announced she was pregnant<\/a>, fellow angel 24-year-old Romee Strijd has just revealed she is expecting her first child with longtime partner Laurens van Leeuwen.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re having a baby!\u201d Strijd announced on her Instagram page wearing a Cult Gaia dress and a beautiful little bump.<\/p>\n

But it wasn\u2019t an easy road. Strijd also admitted to health problems which, she says, could have affected her ability to conceive. \u201cTwo years ago I got diagnosed with PCOS after not getting my period for seven years,” she explained. \u201cI was devastated because being a mom and starting a family with @laurensvleeuwen<\/a>\u00a0is my biggest dream.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so scared that I would never be able to because I got told it was harder to get babies in a natural way. I started to research PCOS and came to the conclusion that mine was not the typical PCOS,\u201d she continued. \u201cMine was because of my body being in fight or flight mode, which means my body was under constant stress.\u201d<\/p>\n

The naturally thin Strijd would spend hours in the gym ahead of Victoria\u2019s Secret shows and at one point, fans began to troll her Instagram calling her out for being “too skinny.”<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI never felt mentally super stressed so it was hard to understand this, but my life consisted of traveling all the time (no biorhythm), working out every day [and] eating super clean (restricting foods),\u201d Strijd said today.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I pressured my body too much, and honestly everybody is so different but I think my weight was not good for my body to function properly and couldn\u2019t handle the constant traveling.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis was the point where I started to research natural healing for PCOS and came to the conclusion that I should do way less high intensity training, don\u2019t restrict foods, be nice to myself, and take breaks when needed. I also tried some natural supplements, acupuncture and we got a place back in the Netherlands as well, so we could spend more time with family (since I\u2019m such a family person).<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so happy and grateful to say that I got my period back last November AND that WE\u2019RE SOON A FAMILY OF THREE,\u201d Strijd continued. \u201cTo the women trying to conceive, believe in yourself and be nice for yourself and your body and don\u2019t let those thoughts get to you too much.\u201d<\/p>\n

All of the models in all of the world have sent their well wishes including Taylor Hill, Elsa Hosk, Hailey Bieber<\/a>, Olivia Culpo<\/a>, Karlie Kloss and Lameka Fox<\/a>.<\/p>\n
