America Ferrera had a huge year in 2023 and is finally getting the recognition she has long deserved this awards season. Nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Gloria in Barbie<\/em><\/a>, she’s a frontrunner for the Oscar, and her appearance for the evening makes a strong case for a winning moment.<\/p>\n

While Margot Robbie<\/a> has been making headlines all year for her thematic press tour looks<\/a>, tonight, Ferrera has her Barbie moment in an epic custom look by Versace.<\/p>\n

The actress looked breathtaking in a pink floor-length gown with a sweetheart neckline and a corseted bodice flowing into a chainmail skirt. Styled by Karla Welch<\/a>, she kept accessories to a minimum with Stuart Weitzman shoes and a silver and diamond choker necklace by Pomellato with tonal gems.<\/p>\n

Her glam was also subtle but fresh, with her brunette bob swept to the side, as styled by Aviva Jansen Perea<\/a>, and a peachy-toned makeup look that complimented the dress.<\/p>\n

In January, the actress told The Wrap<\/em> <\/a>that her teenage self would have expected her to have reached this career milestone long ago.<\/p>\n

“17-year-old America thought she was getting nominated for Gotta Kick It Up<\/em>,\u201d she mused. \u201c17-year-old America thought she could get nominated for an Oscar for a Disney Channel movie. She did not quite understand the rules of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress also acknowledged the lack of representation that has plagued the award show season and what being nominated means to her and the women she’s inspiring.<\/p>\n

\u201cI grew up watching the Academy Awards and looking for proof that I could one day be there. And I found that in any woman of colour or a person outside the dominant stereotype of ‘movie star’,\u201d she said. \u201cI think it really makes an incredible impact when people see people who reflect them in these cultural moments that are about celebrating and valuing people\u2019s voices, people\u2019s stories, people\u2019s work, people\u2019s artistry.\u201d<\/p>\n
