An odd byproduct of the internet and social media is the idea that simply because you\u2019re able to comment something publicly, it means that you should. This ideology is never more present than when a celebrity is concerned, especially when said celebrity is an outspoken advocate for something and then – according to onlookers – does something to contradict it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A perfect example of this is musician Lizzo, who is a body positivity role model – often speaking out about her size (she embraces the word \u2018fat\u2019), and encouraging her fans to love themselves and the body they\u2019re in.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But when Lizzo posted that she was doing a detox, sharing her 10-day transformation with a professional smoothie detox on her social media, the singer was accused by critics of “submitting to toxic diet culture.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, it goes without saying (you’d think) that a detox is something anyone can do, at any size, to give their body a health kick and, naturally, it didn\u2019t take long before the 32-year-old responded in her usual, amazing outspoken way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
