Back in 2017, Katy Perry made us all gasp in shock when she revealed she had switched up her retro-inspired black hairdo and signature bangs for a severe bleached blonde pixie cut. The OMG moment, a la Miley Cyrus, ushered in a new musical era for the animated pop star as she released her fifth studio album Witness <\/em>that summer. Fans were mixed about the new look (and the album) to say the least but despite the lukewarm reception, Perry kept the chopped style for years.<\/p>\n

But on Sunday during a taping<\/a> for American Idol,<\/em> the 36-year-old delighted fans as she took to the gram<\/a> posting a series of snaps of herself sporting long raven locks with blunt Bettie Page-esqe bangs. “The One That Got Away” singer showed off her new ‘do, created by hairstylist Rick Henry, while wearing a wild pink and black tiger print poncho by Vietnamese designer Cong Tri. She accessorized with black arm-length leather gloves by Gaspar and black leather thigh-high boots by Jimmy Choo.<\/p>\n

Perry simply captioned the series of photos “Mother.” Presumably a wig, the black hair was complimented in the comments section by the likes of actress Gwyneth Paltrow, rapper Juicy J, RuPaul’s Drag Race<\/em> champ Aquaria and fellow hair gurus Chris Appleton<\/a> and Jen Atkin.<\/a><\/p>\n

Going along with the edgy pin-up vibe, her go-to makeup artist Michael Anthony painted her up with muted pink lipstick, hot pink blush, pale purple eyeshadow and a dramatic pair of false lashes, similar to the iconic look she rocked on her California Dreams tour in 2011.<\/p>\n

The “Firework” singer recently returned to work on the rebooted ABC reality singing competition’s fourth season alongside fellow judges, country singer Luke Bryan and music legend Lionel Richie.<\/p>\n

Perry welcomed her first child<\/a>, a daughter named Daisy Dove, with fianc\u00e9 Orlando Bloom, just four months
