Jacob Elordi, Hollywood heartthrob, has just landed his next big role\u2014as a grotesque monster.<\/p>\n

Per Deadline<\/em><\/a>, the Euphoria<\/em> actor is set to play Frankenstein\u2019s monster in director Guillermo del Toro\u2019s upcoming Netflix project, Frankenstein<\/em>. The Oscar\u2013winning filmmaker, known for his passion for horror and folklore, will write, direct, and produce the film.<\/p>\n

It’s the latest in what has become a career-making few years for the Austrlian actor. Having just received critical acclaim for his performance opposite Barry Keoghan<\/a> in Emerald Fennel\u2019s Saltburn<\/em><\/a>, and his take on Elvis alongside Cailee Spaeny in Sofia Coppola\u2019s biopic Priscilla<\/em><\/a>, the actor is highly in-demand. Though his work has involved some haunting scenes, this will be the first time Elordi dabbles in the supernatural genre.<\/p>\n

For the project, which follows the Mexican director’s film Nightmare Alley<\/em><\/a>, Del Toro is writing, directing and producing alongside J. Miles Dale, who also served as a producer on his Netflix series Cabinet of Curiosities<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

What is the plot of Frankenstein<\/em>?<\/h2>\n

Mary Shelley\u2019s classic 1818 gothic novel follows the cautionary tale of Dr Victor Frankenstein, an ambitious young scientist who attempts to bring a monster to life by piecing together dead body parts. His unnatural endeavours prove successful, but he rejects his creation to dire consequence.<\/p>\n

It’s a timeless story that plugs the ever-relevant allegory of flying too close to the sun, but del Toro will no doubt apply his clever commentary on the project. Currently, it stands to be confirmed whether the director intends on setting the film in its true time of the 1800s or if this will be a modern retelling.<\/p>\n

Who will star in Frankenstein<\/em>?<\/h2>\n

Alongside Elordi, Oscar Isaac<\/a> will star as the titular Dr. Victor Frankenstein\u2014an excellent choice, if we do say so.<\/p>\n

Joining the dynamic dup will be Pearl<\/em>‘s Mia Goth<\/a>, Inglorious Bastars<\/em> actor Christoph Waltz, All Quiet on the Western Front<\/em>‘s Felix Kammerer, The Witcher<\/em>‘s Lars Mikkelsen, Harry Potter<\/em> alum David Bradley, and Sweet Tooth<\/em> star Christian Convery.<\/p>\n

Elordi is reportedly a replacement for Andrew Garfield<\/a>, who had to pass on the role after strike postponements let to scheduling conflicts.<\/p>\n
