It’s been almost 35 years since When Harry Met Sally<\/em> hit cinemas, but the memory of its restaurant scene still lives on, especially for its leads, Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal.<\/p>\n

Though the bit is still a favourite in 2023, last night, Ryan, 62, sent fans wild when she playfully roasted her co-star in Washington, D.C., where Crystal, 75, was honoured at the 46th Kennedy Center Honours.<\/p>\n

During her speech at the special ceremony, the actress made a hilarious reference to the iconic scene<\/a> of their 1989 film where her character, Sally, theatrically fakes an orgasm while dining at New York City’s Katz’s Delicatessen, to the shock-horror of the restaurant’s patrons and especially to Crystal’s character, Harry.<\/p>\n

Observing her lively reaction, a fellow diner remarks to the waiter when ordering, “I’ll have what she’s having.”<\/p>\n

“The scene came really naturally to me, and I really have Billy to thank for that,” Ryan said to the crowd. “I’ve actually never been around anyone who made faking an orgasm easier. So thank you, Billy.”<\/p>\n

As the laughter died, she added a sweet tribute to Crystal and his wife.<\/p>\n

“As his wife Janice has known for over 50 years, falling in love with Billy is a pretty easy thing to do.”<\/p>\n

When arriving at the event’s red carpet, Crystal praised the rom-com<\/a>‘s enduring appeal and his co-star while speaking to People magazine<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were thrown together by [director Rob Reiner and screenwriter Nora Ephron], chosen to be this couple, and you never know\u2014almost 35 years later, we\u2019re still a couple to everybody,” he remarked, adding how it stands as a lasting feat of love. “As you get further along and new generations see this movie and feel it and watch it over and over again.”<\/p>\n

“People fall in love every day and fall out of love every day,” he continued. “This movie is an evergreen that way. It\u2019s a beautiful thing.”<\/p>\n
