Rachel Bilson has captured just how crazy life was during the height of her fame in the 2000s thanks to her hit drama The OC<\/em> <\/a>and how the Olsen twins<\/a> effectively “rescued” her when she was in a tight spot.<\/p>\n

In celebration of the show’s twentieth anniversary (yes, it’s really been that long since we followed the lives of Newport’s elite), creator Josh Schwartz<\/a>, Stephanie Savage and Alan Sepinwall have released Welcome to the OC<\/em><\/a>, a tell-all book providing\u00a0a behind-the-scenes look into how the show was made and the ups and downs over its four seasons. It features stories from the cast, including Bilson’s run-in with the famous twins.<\/p>\n

Describing what sounds like a noughties fever dream, the actress recalled a terrifying moment where swarms of fans were trying to get to her and co-star Adam Brody<\/a>. But who should come to her rescue? None other than Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Having just wrapped up an episode of MTV’s TRL <\/em>in New York City, where the duo were also guests promoting their film New York Minute<\/em>, Bilson details how the Olsens came to her aid when she was inundated by a crowd.<\/p>\n

“I was getting swarmed by a mass mob,” she said. “They rescued me and threw me in their car.”<\/p>\n

Brody<\/a>, her then-boyfriend, was not so lucky.<\/p>\n

“I left Brody behind because I was so nervous and didn\u2019t know what to do,” she confessed.<\/p>\n

Someone was thinking of Brody, though, just not Bilson.<\/p>\n

“They were like, \u2018Don\u2019t you need to get your boyfriend?\u2019,” Bilson recalled the sisters asking. “I was like, \u2018Oh, yeah, we\u2019ve got to go get him'”<\/p>\n

Bilson<\/a>, 42, and Brody, 41, dated for three years after portraying on-screen couple Summer Roberts and Seth Cohen.<\/p>\n

In August, the actress marked two decades since the show’s debut with a snap of one of Summer’s memorable outfits with the caption ‘Twenty’.<\/p>\n

Though rumours of a reboot have come up here and there, including a blessing from Brody<\/a> himself, nothing has been picked up or confirmed.
