Her mother\u2019s daughter<\/a>, indeed. There\u2019s no doubt that Kaia Gerber\u2019s enviable career as a supermodel is a cumulation of her hard work, family ties and identical appearance to her fashion icon mother, Cindy Crawford<\/a>. However, it turns out Gerber\u2019s business acumen<\/a> isn\u2019t the only thing she shares with the recent docuseries star<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As proven during a recent night out in New York, Gerber is clearly taking sartorial cues<\/a> from Crawford\u2019s 90s heyday. The recent Bottoms<\/em> actress<\/a> has embraced her mother\u2019s penchant for slinky LBDs<\/a> (hello, her body-conscious mini from 1992) and sculptural silhouettes from the \u2018Titan of Tight\u2019, Ala\u00efa.<\/a><\/p>\n

Crawford and her 22-year-old \u2018mini me\u2019 stepped out in Manhattan to celebrate horology by hitting the step-and-repeat before attending the cocktail reception for the Planet Omega<\/a> exhibition. Though the timepieces were the pi\u00e8ce de r\u00e9sistance of the pair\u2019s ensembles, their grown-up take on \u201cmummy and me\u201d dressing<\/a> is what piqued our interest.<\/p>\n

Proving that complimenting your offspring can extend far beyond the designer diaper stage, Crawford and Gerber both opted for differing takes on all-black outfits.<\/p>\n

As previously mentioned, Gerber\u2019s youthful look consisted of a second-skin bodysuit and a pleated mini skirt knitted from cotton-coated yarn and sheer crepe silk. The boned skirt also featured Gemelli (a curved pasta shape) twists that trimmed the hemline.<\/p>\n

It was the flirty antidote to Crawford\u2019s more coy maxi dress, which featured draped, asymmetrical sleeves and a deep, flouncy V-cut front. The beauty looks noted different interpretations of \u2018cocktail\u2019 attire, too.<\/p>\n

Gerber styled her brunette tresses into a modish updo, perhaps still in character as Edie Sedgwick after her Halloween<\/a> rendezvous, while Crawford opted for her signature bombshell blowout.<\/a><\/p>\n

Perhaps their latest outing can be taken as a lesson in harmonious dressing<\/a>. While contrasts are certainly welcome, especially when they\u2019re used to showcase a personal aesthetic, subtly imbuing your matching outfits with one congruous element can reap dividends in the long run.<\/p>\n
