It\u2019s a big day of film trailers for Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet. The 27-year-old actor and (unconfirmed) boyfriend of Kylie Jenner<\/a> is the star of CHANEL\u2019s new Bleu de Chanel film campaign directed by Martin Scorsese<\/a> (its teaser released today). Chalamet\u2019s new film Wonka<\/em> <\/a>also just dropped a second trailer\u2014and while we knew he could star in a period piece (remember his turn as Laurie in Greta Gerwig\u2019s Little Women<\/em><\/a>?), we certainly get to see a new side the Chalamet in this movie.<\/p>\n

Directed by Paul King, Chalamet stars as Willy Wonka, the beloved chocolate-loving character at the centre of Roald Dahl\u2019s best-selling book Charlie & The Chocolate Factory<\/em>. This film delves into the wondrous story of how the world\u2019s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today.<\/p>\n

Also starring bumbling Englishmen Hugh Grant<\/a> and Rohan Atkinson, the big screen fantastical spectacle\u2014filled to the brim with colour and music and magic\u2014realises Chalamet’s incredible breadth as an actor (he’s really funny!) as he takes on the role of the relentlessly enthusiastic Wonka determined to change the world one chocolate at a time. The film\u2019s message is clear: the best things in life happen for those who dare to dream.<\/p>\n

King revealed to Rolling Stone<\/em> that, after seeing his viral high school performances on YouTube, Chalamet did not have to audition for the role.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a straight offer because he\u2019s great and he was the only person in my mind who could do it,\u201d King said. \u201cBut because he\u2019s Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet and his life is so absurd, his high school musical performances are on YouTube and have hundreds of thousands of views. So I knew from stanning for Timmy Chalamet that he could sing and dance really well.\u201d<\/p>\n
