As the Isreal-Hamas war enters its fourth day of conflict, Gigi Hadid has broken her silence<\/a> to condemn the \u201cterrorizing of innocent people\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n

The American-born supermodel<\/a>, who is of Dutch and Palestinian descent, has spoken of her \u201cresponsibility\u201d to have \u201cdeep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation\u201d in a lengthy statement posted to her Instagram account. <\/span><\/p>\n

Hadid\u2019s post was prompted by a violent attack on Israel by Hamas\u2013a Palestinian political and militant organization that has maintained control of the Gaza Strip (currently a Palestinian exclave) since 2007. Hamas has been officially considered a terrorist group by the Australian government<\/a> since 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

In her post, Hadid writes that the \u201cterrorizing of innocent people is not in alignment with and does not do any good for the \u2018Free Palestine\u2019 movement,\u201d while making it explicitly clear that her \u201chopes and dreams for Palestinians\u201d do not include \u201cthe harm of a Jewish person\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both Hadid and her sister Bella<\/a>, who celebrated her 27th Birthday on the second day of the Israel-Hamas war<\/a>, have previously vocalized their support for Palestinian sovereignty and the #FreePalestine movement. <\/span><\/p>\n

Gigi Hadid hasn\u2019t allowed comments on her post, but the crux of her message is one of peace. Read it for yourself below:<\/span><\/p>\n

“My thoughts are with all those affected by this unjustifiable tragedy and every day that innocent lives are taken by this conflict \u2013 too many of which are children. I have deep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation, it\u2019s a responsibility I hold daily.<\/p>\n

I also feel a responsibility to my Jewish friends to make it clear, as I have before:<\/p>\n

While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person. The terrorizing of innocent people is not in alignment with and does not do any good for the \u2018Free Palestine\u2019 movement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The idea that it does has fuelled a painful, decades-long cycle of back & forth retaliation (which no innocent civilian, Palestinian or Israeli, deserves to be a casualty of) and helps perpetuate the false idea that being Pro-Palestine = antisemitic.
