The former assistant of David Beckham, Rebecca Loos, has been\u2014perhaps unnecessarily\u2014weighing in on online commentary about her alleged affair with the football superstar in 2005. The scandal is of course back in the headlines amid the recent release of the rather incredible Netflix docuseries Beckham.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

In it, Beckham\u2019s wife, fashion designer and former Spice Girl<\/a> Victoria, 49, reflects on that period of time as \u201cthe most unhappy I have been in my entire life.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also admits to internalising a lot of her sadness so her husband could keep playing his best football.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t that I felt unheard because I was always mindful of the focus that he needed,\u201d she says. \u201cIt felt like the world was against us\u2026[But] here\u2019s the thing\u2014we were against each other, if I\u2019m being completely honest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beckham, 48, admits he wasn\u2019t sure the couple would make it through that time in their lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cVictoria is everything to me, to see her hurt was incredibly difficult, but we\u2019re fighters,\u201d he recalls in the docuseries. \u201cAnd at that time, we needed to fight for each other, we needed to fight for our family. And what we had was worth fighting for.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStay strong,\u201d one Instagram commenter wrote to Loos<\/a> on October in reference to the docuseries. \u201cYou have a beautiful life with your gorgeous family which unlike others doesn\u2019t have to fill the gaps by getting Netflix involved!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you,\u201d Loos replied. \u201cI am taking in the nasty comments with as much humour as I can.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair married<\/a> on July 4 1999. In 2005, while living in Madrid, they found themselves at the centre of a cheating scandal with Loos, now 46, telling British publication News Of The World<\/em><\/a>\u00a0that she had an affair\u00a0with Beckham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Beckham vehemently denied the allegations.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the past few months I have become accustomed to reading more and more ludicrous stories about my private life,\u201d he said in a statement at the time. \u201cWhat appeared this morning is just one further example. The simple truth is that I am very happily married and have a wonderful wife and two very special kids. There is nothing any third party can do to change this.\u201d<\/p>\n

A second woman also came forward claiming she, too, had an affair with Beckham. Irrespective of all the allegations, Victoria stood by her husband. After all, they had two young sons, Brooklyn and Romeo. They would go on to have a third son Cruz that same year, and a daughter named Harper in 2011.<\/p>\n

Together, Victoria and David Beckham built an empire and today are estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
