In September last year, Maria Grazia Chiuri<\/a> opened her Spring\/Summer 2023 show<\/a> with a hooped petticoat and bralette in raffia lace, a prelude to the extraordinary silhouettes that would follow. Her muse was 16th<\/sup> century Italian noblewoman-come-French Queen Catherine de Medic<\/a>i\u2014and her daily wardrobe moments: crinolines, gloves, satin, yards of lace and baroque curved heels with buckles to the knees.<\/p>\n

Ms. Chiuri always celebrates powerful female figures\u2014and tonight, at the Tuileries Gardens in Paris, we\u2019re waiting with bated breath to see her next heroine.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy point of departure is the female body, and I think about how the body and fashion come together to allow me to express ideas and re-shape identities,\u201d Ms. Chiuri wrote in an essay for GRAZIA<\/a>. \u201cMy work is rooted in passion, study and a desire to be on the frontline, with my own interpretation and also my own personal way of living the extraordinary adventure of being a woman.\u201d<\/p>\n
