After less than a year on air, Emily Ratajkowski’s podcast High Low with EmRata<\/em><\/a> has been quietly shut down by Sony Group, Bloomberg<\/a> has learned. As people familiar with the matter revealed to the outlet, the cancellation comes amid layoffs for a \u201csignificant percentage\u201d of the company’s podcast division\u2014its third round of podcast job cuts in the past two years.<\/p>\n

The show, which premiered in November 2022, was a major production, releasing three episodes weekly on topics \u201cabout everything from politics, philosophy and feminism to sex, TikTok and relationships,\u201d as per the podcast<\/a>‘s description. Featuring A-list guests like Julia Fox<\/a>, Esther Perel<\/a>, Chloe Cherry and Mia Khalifa, the show took on an interview format, with Ratajkowski diving deep into topics around friendship<\/a> and dating<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But though plenty of conversations and interesting guests (as well as the famous host herself) garnered public interest and media attention, it’s unclear just how commercially successful the show was for Sony. Sources told Bloomberg that the show may have been a hit overseas but struggled to sell advertising dollars to brands that wanted to reach US consumers.<\/p>\n

All hope is not lost for fans, though. Sources also revealed that the model and author will seek out a new company to produce her show.<\/p>\n

“Like many in the industry, we are further streamlining our structure as we continue to shift our creative strategy and focus on building big audiences across a select group of ongoing shows and our subscription business,” the spokesperson for Sony wrote in a statement to the outlet.<\/p>\n

At this point in time, it hasn’t been disclosed if the layoffs directly impacted Sony Music Entertainment\u2019s Somethin\u2019 Else team, which is the team behind High Low with EmRata<\/em>.<\/p>\n
