Just as the fashion sect began to peel their eyes away from New York<\/a> and onto London for the English capital\u2019s respective fashion week, the Council of Fashion Designers of America have given us a reason to keep our attention firm on their cultural epicentre.<\/p>\n

Released today, the CFDA have announced the honorees and nominees for this year\u2019s CFDA Fashion Awards\u2014a ceremony globally amplifying the impact and excellence of America\u2019s domestic fashion industry.<\/p>\n

The 2023 year of the ceremony will take place on November 6 on the Upper West Side at the American Museum of Natural History. It\u2019s not quite the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art<\/a>, though just a stone\u2019s throw across Central Park, America\u2019s brightest emerging and established designers will gather with esteemed members of the press and a portion of the local celebrity style set.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s proceeding marks the first for new incumbent chairperson, Thom Browne, who took over from Tom Ford<\/a> effective of January 1st 2023. This year\u2019s host is yet to be announced.<\/p>\n

The recipients and honorees range from fashion mainstays to buzz-worthy bourgeoning designers who hold their own in the fast-paced and ferocious industry.<\/p>\n

Proving that fashion is heading towards a more co-ed temperament, male designers have led the nominations for the \u2018American Womenswear Designer of the Year\u2019 category. Joseph Altuzarra<\/a>, Christopher John Rogers and Rual Lopez (of Luar) have each received a nomination, going up against Khaite\u2019s Catherine Holstein<\/a> and Tory Burch<\/a> for the accolade. A competitive category no doubt.<\/p>\n

In the \u2018Menswear Designer of the Year\u2019 category, emerging designers like Willy Chavarria and Colm Dillane of KidSuper lead the charge against revered talents, with Thom Brown<\/a> the only designer to have been designing for their nominated brands for at least a decade.<\/p>\n

The most decorated honor, the \u2018Founder\u2019s Award in Honor of Eleanor Lambert\u2019 will be bestowed upon Tom Ford chairperson Domenico De Sole.<\/p>\n

Given that most nominees will attend the ceremony with a respective muse in tow, the evening is sure to be an explosion of textures, tones, references and silhouettes: a true reflection of the state of the American textile industry.<\/p>\n

Excitingly, the evening could also promise a rare sighting from the Olsen Twins,<\/a> with Mary-Kate and Ashley<\/a> nominated for the \u2018Accessory Designer of the Year\u2019 award with their resolutely minimal label The Row<\/a>.
