It\u2019s been a pandemic-long amount of time since the phrase any indie film darling craves, \u201cwritten and directed by Sofia Coppola\u201d has been uttered.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, this year marks Coppola\u2019s<\/a>, and more importantly, her dreamlike and ethereal aesthetic, return to the silver screen, with the poster girl for the sumptuously sullen staging her comeback with Priscilla<\/em>. Coppola\u2019s upcoming biopic follows in the shadow of fellow suture Baz Luhrmann\u2019s award-winning Elvis<\/em><\/a>, with the 52-year-old instead choosing to spotlight Priscilla Presley n\u00e9e Beaulieu.<\/p>\n

Adapting Presley\u2019s 1985 biography, Elvis And Me<\/em>, Coppola has cast Australia\u2019s own Jacob Elordi<\/a> (Euphoria<\/em>) and newcomer Cailee Spaeny (The Craft: Legacy, Mare of Easttown<\/em>) as Elvis and Priscilla Presley<\/a> respectively, in turn telling Priscilla\u2019s story of how a 14-year-old living on an army base in West Germany met and married the King of Rock.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a project that even propelled Coppola to finally join Instagram, where she shared behind-the-scenes snippets of the film\u2019s stills, set design and the ever-important costume department.<\/p>\n
