CANNES, FRANCE: The cast of May December<\/em> had to wait for the three-hour and 26-minute screening of Martin Scorsese\u2019s Killers of the Flower Moon<\/em><\/a> to end before they could take to the Cannes Film Festival<\/a> red carpet at the Grand Lumi\u00e9re Theatre.<\/a> In that time, the rain returned, but that didn\u2019t stop May December<\/em>\u2019s star Natalie Portman<\/a> from stopping to sign photographs for fans.<\/p>\n

The 41-year-old Academy Award-winning actress walked the Cannes Film Festival 2023 carpet on May 20 in an embroidered tulle gala dress from Dior<\/a>\u2019s Fall\/Winter 1949 haute couture collection. Along with co-stars Julianne Moore<\/a> (Still Alice<\/em>) and Charles Melton (Riverdale<\/em>), and acclaimed director Todd Haynes (Carol<\/em>) Portman was all smiles, even when she needing a little help from Melton to make it up the stairs.<\/p>\n

While an official review is on the way, May December<\/em> <\/a>is an artful look into fraught relationships and our flat-out refusal to really look at ourselves in the mirror. 20 years after a teacher (Moore) fell in love with her then-13-year-old student (Melton), Hollywood wants to make a movie about it with Portman\u2019s character, Elizabeth, as its main lead. Elizabeth stays with the couple in the name of research, and her observations lead to some very big revelations for the pair and their family. The film is competing for the coveted Cannes Palme d\u2019Or.<\/p>\n
