Usually one to keep his private life private, George Clooney has been surprisingly candid about his family recently, speaking openly about his relationship with his wife, Amal, and how they’ve adjusted to the addition of their two children, twins Alexander and Ella.<\/p>\n

Most recently, the actor, who was long regarded as one of the world’s most eligible bachelors, revealed that not only had he and Amal never talked about marriage before he popped the question, but the human rights lawyer didn’t immediately jump to grab the ring from her actor beau.<\/p>\n

‘We never talked about marriage when we were dating. And I asked her out of the blue,” Clooney, who wed in Lake Como, Italy in 2014, told CBS<\/a><\/em>. “Took her a long time to say yes,” he continued. “I was on my knee for like 20 minutes. I finally said, “Look, I’m gonna throw my hip out.”‘<\/p>\n

Clooney also noted that children weren’t something the couple had spoken about or planned for in their lives, either. ‘We never talked about having kids. And then one day we just said, “What do you think?”‘ he said, before going on to reveal how shocked he was that Amal was pregnant with not one, but two children.<\/p>\n

‘We go to the doctor and you do the ultrasound and like, “Hey, you got a baby boy.” I said, “Baby boy, fantastic!” Then they go, “And you got another one there.” And I was like \u2026 I was up for one, you know? Cause, again, I’m old. All of a sudden it’s, like, two? You know, it’s hard to get me to not talk. And I just stood there for like 10 minutes, staring at this piece of paper going \u2026 two<\/em>\u00a0\u2026 silently. But I’m so glad they have each other, you know?’<\/p>\n

The couple gave birth to their children in London in June 2017. At the time, Amal’s publicist joked in a statement:<\/a>\u00a0‘Ella, Alexander and Amal are all healthy, happy and doing fine… George is sedated and should recover in a few days.’<\/p>\n

Clooney also said that his wife completely changed his universe. ‘There is no question that having Amal in my life changed everything for me,’ he said. ‘It was the first time that everything that she did and everything about her was infinitely more important than anything about me.<\/p>\n

‘And then we had these two knuckleheads, and it is very fulfilling, and it’s something I wasn’t at all… didn’t see coming.’<\/p>\n
