The Spring\/Summer 2023 season of New York Fashion Week may be over, but the city\u2019s style savants aren\u2019t done with ushering in new trends for the months ahead.<\/p>\n

The latest trend to emerge from Manhattan\u2019s sartorial stewards isn\u2019t one that reflected the ’90s minimalism explored on the runways<\/a>, but rather one that unexpectedly harks back to the Y2K reign<\/a> that transpired post-pandemic.<\/p>\n

Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for an embellished jean spring.<\/p>\n

Within the span of a week, both Taylor Swift<\/a> and Katie Holmes<\/a> departed from their all-American blue wash denim and opted for a bejewelled pair of jeans adorned with sequin patterns.<\/p>\n

Coincidence? We think not.<\/p>\n

Given that these style moments coincided with the annual Coachella<\/a> weekend, we wonder if Holmes and Swift are purely trying to keep the festival spirit alive and well over 2,000 miles away.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old musician first tipped her toe into the world of embellished jeans by opting for a pair for a momentous occasion: her first public outing since her break-up<\/a> with actor, Joe Alwyn.<\/p>\n

The Midnights<\/em> singer isn\u2019t one to do things in halves, with her Area denim jeans embellished with a sequin butterfly motif<\/a> just another instance of Swift being two steps ahead in leaving crumb-like clues for her fans to unravel.<\/p>\n

As TikTok theorists pointed out, the feature of the butterfly was a poignant hint at how Swift felt after the breakup<\/a>, with the insect symbolic of rebirth and transformation.<\/p>\n

Simply put: Swift and her embellished jeans proved she could still make the whole place shimmer. Almost a week later, Holmes<\/a> stepped out in a pair of two-toned 3.1 Phillip Lim jeans, cutting a casual, yet effortlessly chic figure with the jeans adorned in a star and snowflake-like pattern. <\/span><\/p>\n

The winter motif is an interesting choice considering that New Yorkers were in the midst of a heat wave, but perhaps Holmes\u2019 is paying homage to the jeans that sent social media into a tailspin: her iconic dress-over-jeans combination<\/a> from the 2022 Jingle Bell Ball. <\/span><\/p>\n

If we were to glean anything from this unanticipated style comeback, it\u2019s that this gleaming style will be taking over the streets, proving that denim can and indeed is still bejeweled. <\/span><\/p>\n
