(Photo credit: MANDEL NGAN\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The eldest daughter of former <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/hbo-obama-doc\/\">President Barack Obama<\/a> and FLOTUS <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/michelle-obama-summer-maxi-dress-shop\/\">Michelle Obama<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/malia-obama-donald-glover-series\/\">Malia Obama<\/a>, just landed an impressive new job in Hollywood.\u00a0In a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gq.com\/story\/donald-glover-global-creativity-awards-cover-2023\" target=\"_blank\"><em>GQ<\/em> interview<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/donald-glover-canceled\/\">Donald Glover<\/a> confirmed that Malia is \u201ccreating\u201d a short film with his newly minted production company, Gilga.<\/p>\n<p>Glover\u2019s longtime collaborator and creative partner at Gilga, Fam Udeorji told the publication, \u201cUnderstanding somebody like Malia\u2019s cachet means something. But we really wanted to make sure she could make what she wanted \u2014 even if it was a slow process.\u201d The plot remains under-wraps and it has not yet been confirmed if Malia will also direct the project.<\/p>\n<p>Malia got her start with Glover in the writer\u2019s room for his <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/billie-eilish-makes-acting-debut-in-donald-glover-series-swarm\/\">new Amazon Prime Video series, <em>Swarm<\/em><\/a>, which took the internet by storm after debuting on March 17. Malia had a writing credit on the show\u2019s fifth episode entitled, \u201cGirl Bye,\u201d with series co-creator Janine Nabers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_74455\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-74455\" style=\"width: 1280px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-74455 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2023\/04\/GettyImages-957161598.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"851\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-74455\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Donald Glover attends the world premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story\u00a0 in Hollywood on May 10, 2018. (Getty)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Glover has taken Malia under his wing, mentoring her. \u201cThe first thing we did was talk about the fact that she will only get to do this once,\u201d Glover said. \u201c<em>You\u2019re Obama\u2019s daughter.<\/em>\u00a0So, if you make a bad film, it will follow you around.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It seems production runs in the Obama family following their departure from office in 2016. Barack and Michelle Obama\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/netflix-has-partnered-with-content-producers-michelle-and-barack-obama\/\">signed a deal in 2018<\/a> to produce a series of film and television shows for Netflix. Michelle also <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/michelle-obama-podcast\/\">launched a podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Swarm - Official Trailer | Prime Video\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SDHxie2QcJI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Glover signed a massive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/donald-glover-sets-rich-amazon-overall-deal-exclusive-4134497\/\" target=\"_blank\">eight-figure deal<\/a> with Amazon in 2021 after leaving his role at FX. Known as Childish Gambino in his music career, the multi-hyphenate has a new series adaptation of the 2005 <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/brad-pitt-who-is-ines-de-ramon\/\">Brad Pitt<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/angelina-jolie-and-paul-mescal-spotted-together-in-london\/\">Angelina Jolie<\/a> action film <em>Mr. &amp; Mrs. Smith<\/em> coming out this year that he is both producing and starring in with <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/zoe-kravitz-feline-finesse-batman-red-carpet-catwoman\/\"><em>The Batman<\/em><\/a>\u2019s Paul Dano and <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/michaela-coel-emmys-2021\/\"><em>I May Destroy You<\/em><\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/us\/articles\/michaela-coel-anne-hathaway-will-star-in-new-film\/\">Michaela Coel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The first season of<em> Swarm<\/em> is currently available to
